Disruptive Technology for the Digital Archival Market

A severe gap exists between the ability to create data and the ability to effectively store large amounts of critical information permanently. Millenniata’s Write Once, Read Forever™ technology is the only storage media that can offer storage life well in excess of 100 years, delivering the PERMANICITY needed by the digital archival market.

Archival Market

The Archival market is the pinnacle of the total storage requirements of the digital age. Within this market, the writable DVD is being used in conjunction with other storage components to solve the need to protect the most critical digital information.

The total recordable DVD market is large, totaling 4.4 billion discs per year. The Archival market is approximately 5% or 220 million discs of the yearly total available market.

The Millenniata™ Solution

Millenniata’s patented technology is the ONLY available media designed to permanently store data in a convenient, reliable and cost-effective manner.

Digital information is stored in the M-DISC™ data layer that is constructed of ROCK-LIKE stable materials that are known to last for centuries. The M-WRITER™ drive literally laser-etches digital information into the inorganic data layer of the M-DISC. Once written, the M-DISC cannot be overwritten, erased or corrupted by the natural processes of time, heat, humidity and light. Thus, it achieves a PERMANICITY beyond any known storage media. It is as if the information is literally etched in “stone.”

Due to its backwards compatibility, its ability to achieve PERMANICITY, and substantial value proposition, the M-DISC is expected to be a disruptive force in the DVD portion of the Archival space.

Millenniata Technology

The Write Once, Read Forever™ technology is the digital equivalent of carving in stone. Digital information is literally etched into the stable rock-like data layer using higher laser power. There is a physical change in the data layer that is not reversible by time, humidity, heat, or light. The data is permanently stored.

This technology is so significant that there has been one patent granted and more than 22 additional patents pending. Millenniata continues to build their intellectual property portfolio through a strong and efficient team of scientists and engineers.
